Background and Plan

Background: In the past 3 ½ months I’ve managed to lose 20 pounds by seriously reducing my fat intake. (did you know there are 42 grams of fat in a typical Hostess fruit pie? omg that is obscene, lol). According to all the BMI charts, I have 27 more pounds to take off before I am not considered overweight. I would like to not be overweight.. what a concept. After reading many juice fast evangelists I decided there may be benefits to using juice fasting as a diet and method to clean years of built up toxins out of my system. The plan is to do the fast for some period of time (more on that next), then after the proper conversion back to whole foods, resume my fat reduced diet.
The Plan: Much of the literature out there seems to agree there are two key timelines for juice fasting – 8 days, or 30 days. Most of that same literature warns that the first 4 days are going to make you wish you never learned to spell juce faste. I am committing to myself that I will stick with this for at least the 8 day ride. If I’m not going batty and chewing on my leather belt I hope to commit to extending this experiment for the full 30 day run. I’ll try to blog every day to document my observations and state of mind.
